CONFERENCES AND EVENTS

Book us for an event

Bring TEP’s national engagement research to your event. We speak both nationally and regionally, sharing evidence and insights on the issues education leaders are navigating.

A white paper case study

TEP is a named case study in the DfE white paper Every Child Achieving and Thriving (February 2026), which sets the expectation that every school is monitoring pupil engagement and belonging by 2029.

Validated, published research

Our research is led by Professor John Jerrim of UCL, drawing on data from 400,000+ pupils across 800+ schools, covering every region .

Translated into practice

Our speakers are directors who have led in schools, trusts, and across the sector. By unpacking case studies, we connect the research to the realities of school improvement.

About our sessions

Our expertise is engagement: how pupils, employees and families experience school, and what those experiences can tell us about outcomes, culture and improvement. Sessions draw on TEP’s national research, regional patterns and evidence from schools, with the content shaped around the theme, audience and context of each event.

We do not charge a speaker fee. Depending on the event and location, we may ask for reasonable travel expenses.

    OUR EVENTS

    Where we've spoken

Recent conferences, trust events and education networks where TEP has been invited to contribute research and insights to sector discussions.

    NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TEACHING
    2026

    School Trust CEO Programme Conference

A bespoke session for Fellows on the Aspiring CEO Programme. National findings from TEP's Leadership and Governance research, including where boards' confidence outpaces what pupils and employees report, set the context for Fellows to explore their own trust and school data.

ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL AND COLLEGE LEADERS
    2026

    ASCL Conference for Pastoral Leaders

A keynote on engagement and attendance, drawing on TEP's termly national pupil data. It showed how engagement scores fall before absence appears in the data, and what that means for which pupils pastoral teams prioritise.

    INVICTUS EDUCATION TRUST
    2026

    Transition Conference

A session on the move from Year 6 to Year 7, using national engagement data to show which pupils are affected and when. TEP's census picks up a clear dip in Year 7 engagement by the spring term, which gives leaders a window to act before it surfaces in attendance or behaviour.

    SOUTH WEST INSTITUTE OF TEACHING
    2026

    SWIFT Summer Conference

Delivered with Colyton Foundation, a session on what engagement data adds to the picture of attainment for pupils facing disadvantage. It drew on TEP's regional analysis of South West schools, comparing FSM-matched groups to show where engagement patterns in the region diverge from the national picture, and where that points leaders' support.

    BILLESLEY RESEARCH SCHOOL
    2026

    Evidence Leads in Education Conference

A workshop outlining what we mean by 'engagement’, how it moves across year groups and pupil groups nationally, and the research behind treating it as a lead indicator. The second half worked with one school's census data, triangulating employee and pupil responses so groups could practise reading the two together rather than separately.

    WHOLE EDUCATION
    Attendance Leads Network Webinar

    Attendance Leads Network Webinar

A webinar for those overseeing attendance at school and trust level, drawing on TEP's national census. It set out what the data shows about the gender gap in engagement, including how much more peer relationships weigh for some pupils than others, and where that changes who attendance leads look at first.

    EDCITY
    2026

    Education Workforce Day

A session for an HR audience on how employee engagement is measured, and the research behind it as a lead indicator of retention and job satisfaction. Case studies from schools showed what leaders did once they had the data, and where the results changed a decision.

BARKING & DAGENHAM SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PARTNERSHIP
    2026

    Building Connected Teams Conference

A session on employee engagement, covering the measurement challenges specific to it, TEP's engagement framework, and why employee and pupil engagement move together. It closed on London regional data, setting out where employee engagement in the region runs ahead of the national benchmark and where the pressures are sharper.

    ALL SAINTS CATHOLIC ACADEMY TRUST
    2026

    Governance and Leadership Conference

A session for governors and trustees on what makes engagement data worth bringing to a board, and why a score only means something set against a national comparison. It gave boards a way to read engagement results within their assurance role, and the questions to ask of the data they are shown.

    SCHOOL 21
    2026

    Annual Oracy Exhibition Panel

A panel contribution on oracy and outcomes, bringing national engagement research into the discussion. It set out what the evidence shows about the relationship between engagement and attainment, including where it tracks against reading age, and how that sits alongside the case for oracy.
